Please refer to the frequently asked questions that may pertain to your child's school level. If you have a question not answered here, please email FAQ@springville.k12.ia.us.
What happens if a child or teacher tests positive for COVID?
We will follow current guidance by Linn County Public Health in regards to isolation, contact tracing, etc. We felt like it was better to identify that route vs. putting exact information based off of the right now guidance as we all know how quickly that could change.
What happens if a child is sent to school with symptoms or develops them during the day?
Parents will be contacted immediately to come pick up their child. Until that happens, the student will be isolated from the rest of the student body.
What happens when a student has to self-isolate?
Students that are planning in-person and then have to self-isolate or be out of school will receive remote instruction from their Springville teacher(s). Teachers will be expected to teach out of their learning management system so that students could pick up right where they left off if individually or a school had to shut down. We will formulate a plan/expectations for check-ins with each student as this occurs.
How will specials be handled?
Specials at the elementary will continue to occur. Adaptations and accommodations are still being worked on but students will have specials.
How will sports be handled?
All sports are on as normal as of now with accommodations and modifications. However, this is a topic that is still in discussion at the state and conference level.
Can the old elementary building be used to space out all of the elementary grades and high school students more?
The old elementary has been modified for many different uses other than classrooms. We will look at what is available at the old elementary and other places as options where teachers and staff can take students during the day to increase social distancing.
